is the Managing Partner of e3 Investment Partners. He has more than 25 years of Venture Capital experience.
Prior to founding e3, Mr. Puro was a partner in the Edelson Funds, a series of five venture capital funds formed to invest in early-stage companies across all areas of technology for 10 major corporate limited partners including 3M, AT&T, Asea Brown Boveri. Colgate-Palmolive,
Cincinnati Bell, Imation, Ford Motor, Reed Elsevier, UPS, and Viacom. Edelson’s portfolio companies operated businesses in computer software and hardware, telecom, internet, biotech, medical devices, alternative (clean) energy, outsourcing, education systems, and entertainment. 11 of the Funds’ portfolio companies each reached market capitalization of more than $1 Billion in the public markets. In total, more than 30 portfolio companies completed including Blackboard, Celgene, Chinadotcom, Global Pharmaceuticals, NeuroMedical Systems, Oxford GlycoSciences, Oxford Molecular, and Websense. Another more than 30 portfolio companies were successfully sold to companies including 3M, Applied Digital Sciences, Cable & Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, Kodak, HERA (Hydro-Quebec/Shell JV), Jostens, Mallinckrodt, and W.R. Grace.
As President of medical device manufacturer, Temptime Corporation, Mr. Puro led the explosive growth of the company which averaged 20% per annum and the strategic transformation of Temptime from a one-product, one-customer company to a multi-product company with a worldwide customer base and operations in the US, Europe, India, and Asia. The Company’s product line expansion was accomplished through a combination of internal development, technology acquisitions and FDA 510(k) clearance of its core temperature monitoring product. Mr. Puro was the President of China Opportunity Acquisition Corp. a special purpose acquisition company that successfully acquired the leading specialty steel company in China in March 2009. Mr. Puro was Acting CEO of College Enterprises, Inc., an Edelson portfolio company that had 600 employees operating in the college services industry with the largest “one-card” smart card business in the US, an internet-based college services software system and web application, a coursebook custom publishing division, and on-campus copy centers across the US. He developed the strategies for and implemented the sale of each of the various business units over a four year period.
Prior to joining ETP, Mr. Puro was a leading venture capital attorney performing transactional work for many of the largest and well-respected venture capital funds on the East Coast.
Mr. Puro has a BS in Accounting from Seton Hall University and a JD from Fordham University Law School.
